Yomiuri: Nintendo, Marketplace Site Operators to Thwart Unauthorized Switch 2 Listings

Nintendo Co. announced Tuesday that it would collaborate with three companies operating flea market sites to prevent unauthorized listings of its new game console the Nintendo Switch 2, which will be released on June 5. The three companies are Mercari Inc., LY Corp. and Rakuten Group Inc.

The Switch 2 is Nintendo's first new console in eight years, and the suggested retail price for the Japanese market version is 49,980 yen, including tax. Applications for lottery sales through the official online store and home electronics retailers have flooded in, with demand already surging before release. There are concerns that after launch, there will be cases of unauthorized acts, such as resale on flea market sites.

Nintendo therefore intends to raise user awareness and request the removal of listings that violate their terms of service, in collaboration with the three companies. "We aim to prevent unauthorized listings of Nintendo products, including the Switch 2," a Nintendo official said.
