Cadence Design Systems (CDNS) said late Thursday it is working with the US Bureau of Industry and Security to clarify new export license requirements for certain electronic design automation software and technology.
In a regulatory filing, the company said it was notified on May 23 that a license is now required for the export, re-export, or in-country transfer of items classified under export control classification numbers 3D991 and 3E991 on the Commerce Control List when a party to the transaction is located in China or is a Chinese "military end user," regardless of location.
Cadence said the new requirements are complex and that it is assessing the potential impact on its business and financial results.
