Toymaker Hasbro will be able to navigate tariffs relatively smoothly, said chief executive Chris Cocks.

"I think the important thing on tariffs is Christmas is going to happen," Cocks said at a session during the Wall Street Journal's Future of Everything event in New York. "The North Pole has most favored nation trading status still," he joked.

While the toy industry sources about 80% of its products from China, Hasbro derives about half of its U.S. toy and game volume from China

"That gives us a lot of optionality. It's going to allow us to be a lot more tempered in how we think about pricing," Cocks said. He added that smaller or mid-sized players haven't been able to navigate pricing "quite as effectively," and the churn on the toy aisle is "opening up opportunities for a company like Hasbro to gain some shelf space."
