An asset management firm tied to Nintendo Co.'s (TYO:7974) founding Yamauchi family is backing K2 Pictures, a new Japanese studio aiming to disrupt the domestic film industry with innovative financing.
K2 announced Tuesday that Yamauchi No. 10 Family Office has acquired an 11% stake in the company, according to a statement on Tuesday.
The investment also includes participation in K2's film production fund.
