Materials stocks ended Monday with gains, propelled by steelmakers that investors bid up on the heels of President Trump's announcement of greater steel tariffs. Nucor, Steel Dynamics and Cleveland-Cliffs all posted strong gains.
Shares of Dow, a chemical company, fell after it said it reached a deal to exit its DowAska partnership with Turkey's Akkok Holding. Dow said it is selling its 50% stake in the venture back to Akkok.
