Core Energy Minerals (ASX:CR3) began a field reconnaissance program over the Grande uranium project in Brazil, with the purpose of ground-truthing the geological potential for hosting uranium and rare earth mineralization and assessing the logistical aspects of the project area, according to a Tuesday Australian bourse filing.
The firm's geologist conducted preliminary mapping, rock chip sampling of main target lithologies for chemical analysis, and engaged with local stakeholders.
It also used a spectral scintillometer to identify areas of anomalous radioactivity and confirm airborne radiometric anomalies.
The firm added that applications for additional tenure have been filed, incorporating surface uranium anomalies identified during the reconnaissance program outside of its existing tenure.
