Amite Solar, LLC, a subsidiary of NextEra Energy Resources, has launched its first utility-scale energy facility in Louisiana, marking a significant milestone for the company. The Amite Solar Energy Center, located in Tangipahoa Parish, is now operational and has a capacity of up to 100 megawatts. This facility is expected to power thousands of homes and businesses in Louisiana with reliable and low-cost solar energy. The project, which became commercially operational in March 2025, is anticipated to generate approximately $16 million in additional tax revenue for the region over the next 30 years. This economic boost is expected to benefit local schools, roads, and other public services. The construction phase created 200 jobs and stimulated local commerce.
