Republican lawmakers are raising concerns about the Trump administration's work with Palantir Technologies (PLTR) to aggregate large amounts of government data on Americans, Semafor reported Thursday.
"When you start combining all those data points on an individual into one database, it really essentially creates a digital ID," Rep. Warren Davidson of Ohio said in an interview, Semafor reported. "And it's a power that history says will eventually be abused."
"If you had the wrong people in government, are there protections to make sure that privacy is protected?" Sen. Mike Rounds of South Dakota said, according to Semafor.
Palantir shares fell 5.4% in recent Thursday trading.
Palantir didn't immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
