Three top U.S. officials will meet with their Chinese counterparts in London next week, President Trump said on Truth Social, to discuss a path forward on trade. Trump said Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, and U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer will meet in London on Monday with representatives of China.
Trump said he expected the meeting "should go very well." Trump on Thursday held a call with Chinese leader Xi Jinping to discuss trade issues, including China's slow approval of rare earth export licenses critical for the U.S. automotive and defense industries. Trump had earlier declared those actions put China in violation of a trade agreement signed in Geneva last month, though he said after the call that "there should no longer be any questions respecting the complexity of Rare Earth products."
