US Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., said Monday that the Trump administration is "totally reconstituting" the nation's 17-member Advisory Committee for Immunization Practices because it would not otherwise be able to obtain majority control of the vaccine policy panel until 2028.

Kennedy wrote in a Wall Street Journal opinion piece that the move to disband the Centers for Disease Control committee is meant to bring about a "restoration of public trust" on the issue of vaccines, which the committee is tasked to evaluate for safety and efficacy.

Kennedy claimed the committee is riddled with conflicts of interest and has served as " little more than a rubber stamp for any vaccine."

He said the members are immersed "in a system of industry-aligned incentives and paradigms that enforce a narrow pro-industry orthodoxy."

New members will not work directly for the vaccine industry, he said.

The CDC did not immediately reply to MT Newswires' request for comment.
