BWX Technologies, Inc. has announced that a BWXT-led team has been awarded a contract by Atomic Energy of Canada Limited for the management and operation of Canadian Nuclear Laboratories Ltd. $(CNL)$. The Nuclear Laboratory Partners of Canada Inc. (NLPC), a joint venture comprising BWXT, Kinectrics, and Amentum, along with subcontractor Battelle, was selected as the preferred bidder after a competitive process initiated in 2023. The contract is valued at C$1.2 billion per year on average for six years, with potential extensions up to 20 years based on performance. The NLPC team will assume responsibility for CNL on September 13, 2025, following a transition period. CNL, recognized as Canada's premier nuclear science and technology organization, will focus on areas such as science and technology, decommissioning and waste management, and Chalk River revitalization under the new contract.
