China Isotope & Radiation (CIRC) (HKG:1763) said its Beijing branch has signed a purchase intention contract with a leading Peruvian agricultural firm to build Peru's first commercial gamma irradiation facility, according to a Friday Hong Kong bourse filing.
The project, located in Lima, will support food preservation for organic produce with a 1 million curies capacity station, marking the company's first such initiative in Latin America. China Isotope will provide end-to-end technical and service support.
The move, aligned with the Belt and Road Initiative, aims to enhance Peru's cold chain efficiency and agricultural exports while promoting nuclear technology applications across the region, the filing said.
