Woodside Energy Group Ltd. has announced an update on the ongoing regulatory review of the proposed North West Shelf Extension. The company, in collaboration with the North West Shelf Joint Venture, is engaged in constructive consultations with the Federal Government. Both parties have agreed to extend the consultation period to address the proposed environmental approval conditions, which include cultural heritage management and air quality considerations. The North West Shelf Project has been a significant contributor to Western Australia's energy supply and economic prosperity, providing over 6000 petajoules of domestic gas and generating more than A$40 billion in royalties and excise over four decades. The review process highlights the importance of balancing environmental considerations with continued energy production.
