T1 Energy Inc. has announced the selection of Yates Construction as the contractor for preconstruction services and site preparations for its ambitious $850 million G2_Austin 5 GW Solar Cell Facility in Texas. This initiative is part of T1's strategy to enhance the domestic solar and battery supply chain, supported by government policies favoring American manufacturing and energy independence. The project, anticipated to start production by the end of 2026, is expected to create up to 1,800 full-time jobs. Milam County officials have also agreed to a long-term tax abatement package for T1 Energy, contingent upon meeting employment and investment thresholds. Yates Construction, along with engineering services from SSOE Group, will play a crucial role in advancing this facility, which aims to meet the growing demand for U.S. solar cells and modules.
