Georgia Power, the largest electric subsidiary of Southern Company, has successfully completed a 50% hydrogen blend testing at Plant McDonough-Atkinson in collaboration with Mitsubishi Power. This achievement marks the world's largest hydrogen fuel blending demonstration on an advanced class gas turbine. The test is part of Georgia Power's ongoing efforts to advance innovative research and development, focusing on cleaner natural gas technologies to serve its electric customers. These initiatives align with the company's strategy to reduce carbon emissions, which have already decreased by more than 60% since 2007. The testing builds on a previous 20% hydrogen blending test conducted in 2022 and underscores the company's commitment to delivering reliable and affordable energy while planning for the future needs of a growing Georgia.
