Meta Platforms Inc (META) has hired Daniel Gross, the chief executive of Safe Superintelligence, and Nat Friedman, former GitHub chief executive as part of its efforts to ramp up its artificial intelligence capabilities, CNBC reported Thursday, citing unnamed sources.

Meta tried and failed earlier this year to acquire Safe Superintelligence, which was launched by former OpenAI engineer Ilya Sutskever, the report said.

Gross and Friedman also operate a joint venture called NFDG, which Meta will buy a stake in as part of the deal to retain both men, the report said.

Meta did not immediately reply to MT Newswires' request for comment.
