The Chinese government is ready to join the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership, Commerce Ministry Spokesperson He Yadong said in a press briefing.
The statement comes as Beijing prepares for its accession to the CPTPP during a meeting in Australia in the second half.
In preparation for its admission to the CPTPP, China has analyzed and evaluated in depth the agreement and prepared market access bids for the trade of goods and services, He said during a Thursday press briefing.
China will also align itself with international economic and trade rules as it joins the CPTPP, the ministry said, citing He.
The CPTPP is a free trade agreement between 12 countries, including Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Singapore, the United Kingdom, and Vietnam.
