Cadiz Inc. has announced a new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with UK-based Hoku Energy Limited to develop a clean energy campus at Cadiz Ranch in California's Mojave Desert. This marks the second land lease for clean energy development the company has secured within a year. The agreement includes the potential development of green hydrogen production facilities, large-scale renewable power generation, battery storage facilities, and integrated digital infrastructure on over 10,000 acres. The project aims to complement Cadiz's existing initiatives, including the Mojave Groundwater Bank and a green hydrogen facility with RIC Energy, positioning Cadiz Ranch as a significant clean energy and hydrogen production hub in North America. The MOU grants Hoku Energy a three-year exclusive option to develop the project, furthering Cadiz's commitment to sustainable land and water asset development.
