Teck Resources (TECK) said Tuesday the government of British Columbia has granted an environmental assessment certificate for its proposed Highland Valley Copper Mine Life Extension project.
Teck President and Chief Executive Jonathan Price described the certification as a "positive decision" that "will support extending the life of Canada's largest copper mine" into the mid-2040s.
He added that the decision "positions the project for a final construction sanction decision in the near term," which the company said it expects in Q3.
