Shares of SK Inc. (KRX:034730), the holding company of SK Group, fell nearly 3% in recent trade on Monday as SK Group and Amazon Web Services (AWS) announced a partnership on Friday to expand cloud infrastructure in South Korea.

The two companies will build an AI Zone and data center in Ulsan, which is set to begin operations by 2027. The center will integrate AWS' advanced AI services with SK's telecom, semiconductor, and energy infrastructure, potentially creating up to 78,000 jobs. The project is part of AWS' broader $5.88 billion investment in South Korea and will support next-generation AI development using platforms like SageMaker, Bedrock, and Amazon Q.

The project will bring together major SK Group units such as SK Telecom (KRX:017670), SK Hynix (KRX:000660), and SK Gas (KRX:018670).

Shares of SK Telecom fell nearly 1% while those of SK Gas increased more than 5% in recent trade.
