Itron, Inc. has announced a new contract with the Hellenic Electricity Distribution Network Operator S.A. (HEDNO) to enhance grid modernization efforts in Greece. The agreement, signed on May 28, 2025, will see Itron deploying its Grid Edge Intelligence portfolio to improve customer experience and modernize the Greek electric grid. This includes implementing Itron's Enterprise Edition Meter Data Management system to manage 7.7 million meters, along with the Utility IQ headend system for nearly 1 million new smart meters. The initiative aims to increase operational efficiency, integrate more distributed energy resources, and support Greece's long-term goals, including achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.
