China Eastern Airlines (HKG:0670, SHA:600115) secured an AAA rating from Dagong International Credit Rating, according to a Friday filing with the Shanghai bourse.
Shares rose more than 2% in Hong Kong during afternoon trading on Monday.
The airline's credit rating reflects an optimal fleet and support from government and shareholders.
The outlook on the rating is stable.
However, the airline's profits have also been impacted by its capital expenditure, alongside insufficient demand and intense industry competition, the credit rating agency said.
