Conagra Brands will remove certified food, drug and cosmetic colors from its U.S. frozen product portfolio by the end of 2025.

The food and snacking brands company behind Slim Jim and Swiss Miss hot chocolate also said it won't offer products with FD&C colors sold to K-12 schools by the beginning of the 2026-2027 school year.

Conagra added that it's working to discontinue the use of FD&C colors in the manufacturing of products across its U.S. retail portfolio by the end of 2027.

"Our transition away from FD&C colors is just one aspect of our broader strategy to modernize our portfolio to align with consumer preferences," said Chief Operating Officer Tom McGough.

The move comes as the Trump administration is pushing to strip artificial dyes from the U.S. food supply. The Health and Human Services Department and the Food and Drug Administration said in April that they aimed to work with the food industry to remove six synthetic dyes by the end of next year.

Kraft Heinz earlier this month said it plans to remove the dyes from its U.S. products before the end of 2027. The food giant also said it would no longer use artificial colors in new products in the U.S.
