Toyota Motor (TYO:7203) sold 955,532 vehicles globally in May, up 8% from a year earlier, marking its third consecutive monthly record, as demand for hybrid vehicles remained strong in the US, Japan and China, according to a Friday statement by the company.
Sales of Toyota and Lexus vehicles rose 11% in North America, 7% in China and more than 4% in Japan. Global production reached 906,984 units.
The automaker said it will raise US prices on some models by over $200 next month, citing market conditions and competition.
