0920 ET - Canadian economic output in 2Q is headed for a best-case scenario of flat growth based on monthly GDP data for April, says Capital Economics economist Bradley Saunders. Canada GDP fell 0.1% in April, and Statistics Canada projects a similar contraction in May. There is "a clear risk of contraction" in 2Q, Saunders says. He adds quarterly growth in Canada will remain below 1% annualized for the rest of 2025, and prompt at least two more quarter-point rate cuts from the Bank of Canada.(Paul.Vieira@wsj.com; @paulvieira)
