July 2 - (The Insurer) - Gallagher Re announced on Wednesday that Pablo Muñoz has been appointed to the newly created role of CEO of global facultative reinsurance.
In his new role, which he assumed on Wednesday, Muñoz will lead a global network of facultative specialists to enhance Gallagher Re's facultative capabilities and broaden client reach.
With Muñoz based between London and Miami, the global fac network also spans Singapore, Sydney, New York and the Middle East.
Muñoz will also become a member of Gallagher Re's reinsurance global executive committee.
He joins the reinsurance broker from rival Aon Reinsurance Solutions, where he most recently served as deputy CEO of facultative reinsurance and chairman of the Latin American business.
Muñoz joined Aon in early 2009 following its acquisition of Benfield Group. Other previous roles include CEO of Latin America and strategic growth leader for fac reinsurance.
As part of Gallagher Re's push to bolster its global fac capabilities, the firm also announced on Wednesday that it has reached an agreement with its Japan facultative joint venture partner to assume 100% control of the Japan P&C cedant facultative portfolio.
As part of this agreement, Gallagher Re has brought on new colleagues based in London and Singapore, with further team members to join through to the end of 2025.
