Cobalt Blue Holdings (ASX:COB) said the government extended the major project status for a further three years for its Broken Hill Cobalt Project in New South Wales, according to a Thursday filing with the Australian bourse.

The designation will support the project's investment discussions and show the project's priority with partner Iwatani, the filing said.

Shares of the company rose almost 10% in recent Thursday trade.
