Lockheed Martin Corporation has successfully delivered the first set of AN/SPY-7$(V)$1 radar antennas for the Aegis System Equipped Vessel (ASEV) to the Japan Ministry of Defense. This delivery, facilitated through Mitsubishi Corporation under a Direct Commercial Sale arrangement, marks a significant milestone in the development of Japan's ASEVs, which are slated for commissioning in fiscal years 2027 and 2028. The SPY-7 radar is recognized for its advanced detection and tracking capabilities, allowing for simultaneous engagement of multiple targets and enhancing naval security. Beyond Japan, the SPY-7 radar is also being produced for Canada's River-Class Destroyers and Spain's F-110 Frigates. The land-based version, deployed by the Missile Defense Agency, has demonstrated its effectiveness by successfully intercepting a mid-range ballistic missile as part of the Aegis Guam System. This contract highlights Lockheed Martin's commitment to providing cutting-edge security solutions on a global scale.
