TradingKey - AI in healthcare re-entered the public spotlight, sparking widespread discussion, following a retweet by OpenAI co-founder Greg Brockman.

The post described how a user, plagued for years by an undiagnosed illness, successfully pinpointed the cause with ChatGPT's assistance.

Sharing his story on Reddit, the user detailed enduring mysterious symptoms and undergoing numerous tests without identifying the issue. In desperation, he inputted all his reports and symptom history into ChatGPT for an integrated analysis. ChatGPT suggested the symptoms strongly matched the A1298C MTHFR gene mutation. After months of targeted treatment, his symptoms significantly alleviated.

Another groundbreaking development in AI healthcare came from Microsoft, announcing a major breakthrough in the field. Microsoft unveiled the Microsoft AI Diagnostic Orchestrator (MAI-DxO), which boasts an 85% diagnostic accuracy rate on real case records published weekly by the New England Journal of Medicine, surpassing that of seasoned medical teams by more than fourfold.

Rohan Paul, an observer of Artificial General Intelligence (AGI), remarked that second opinions from AI models should become integral to the diagnostic process. The potential of AI in healthcare is immense and increasingly recognized. NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang has publicly stated that AI will bring the "next astounding revolution" in the fields of healthcare and biosciences.

Tech Giants Set Early Footsteps in AI Healthcare

Indeed, technology titans like NVIDIA and Google are steadily investing more into the AI healthcare sector.

In 2023, NVIDIA initiated collaboration with Recursion Pharmaceuticals to advance AI applications in drug discovery. Google has launched several generative AI products tailored for healthcare scenarios.

Microsoft has collaborated with numerous U.S. medical systems: in 2022, it acquired Nuance for $19.7 billion, whose technology was used by over 55% of U.S. doctors, 75% of radiologists, and 77% of hospitals. In 2023, it partnered with Epic Systems, the largest electronic health records supplier in the U.S., to integrate Microsoft's generative AI technology into Epic's electronic health records software.

Cathie Wood, CEO of Ark Investment, has repeatedly emphasized that healthcare is the most undervalued application area for AI.

Throughout this year, shares of AI + precision medicine company Tempus AI (TEM)have surged by 80.65%, Guardant Health by 65.30%, and Firefly Neuroscience, which announced plans to join NVIDIA's (NVDA) Connect program for AI-enabled brain disease diagnosis, by 14.34%.
