TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Jakarta reported that as of Sunday, July 6, 2025, at 16:00 WIB (Western Indonesian Time), approximately 50 neighborhood units (RT) were submerged in water in Jakarta due to high precipitation since Saturday. The heavy rain triggered an increase in water levels at several water gates, in addition to the factor of high tide in the northern coastal area of Jakarta.
The Head of Data, Information, and Communication Center for Disaster Management of BNPB, Abdul Muhari, said the affected areas in South Jakarta included 20 neighborhood units scattered across the neighborhoods of Tanjung Barat, Pengadegan, Rawa Jati, Pejaten Timur, Kebon Baru, and Manggarai.
"Meanwhile, 30 other neighborhood units are located in East Jakarta, covering the neighborhoods of Bidara Cina, Kampung Melayu, Bale Kambang, Cawang, and Cililitan. The water level varies from 40 to 270 centimeters," Muhari said in a written statement on Sunday.
Meanwhile, flooding has receded in three areas, namely in the neighborhoods of Gedong, Tanjung Barat, and Kebon Baru.
The Jakarta BPBD recorded that a total of 371 individuals or 105 families have sought refuge in several locations, including at the Community Hall of Bidara Cina, Bidara Cina RPTRA, Al Abror Grand Mosque with 137 individuals, Ittihadul Ikhwan Grand Mosque with 74 individuals, SDN 01/02 Kampung Melayu with 119 individuals, Al-Hawi Mosque in Cililitan with 11 individuals, and Al-Ishlah Mosque at Binawan Campus Cawang with 30 individuals.
This condition has also caused an elevation in the status of several water gates and monitoring posts, including Siaga 2 at Pasar Ikan Water Gate on Saturday, July 5, 2025, at 14:00 WIB; Siaga 3 at Katulampa Dam on Saturday, July 5, 2025, at 17:00 WIB; from Siaga 3 to Siaga 2 at Depok Post on Saturday, July 5, 2025, at 21:00 WIB and 22:00 WIB, respectively; Siaga 3 at Sunter Hulu Post on Sunday, July 6, 2025, at 01:00 WIB; Siaga 3 at Pesanggrahan Post on Sunday, July 6, 2025, at 03:00 WIB; and Siaga 3 at Karet Water Gate on Sunday, July 6, 2025, at 11:00 WIB.
According to Muhari, the Jakarta BPBD, along with relevant parties, has deployed personnel to monitor the development of flooding, pump water, monitor the function of water barriers, and distribute basic necessities to the evacuees.
Based on the weather forecast from relevant agencies for the period of Sunday, July 6, 2025, to Monday, July 7, 2025, the Jakarta area is still dominated by moderate to heavy rainfall.
BNPB urges the public to remain vigilant against the potential increase in water levels, especially for residents living in flood-prone areas, riverbanks, and coastal areas.
"In the event of an emergency, follow instructions and official information from the local government. The public is also advised to prepare a disaster survival kit containing basic necessities, important documents, and other emergency supplies," Muhari said.
