What Apple’s Formula 1 play says about sports rights

Movie critics have dedicated thousands of column inches to Apple’s newest film, F1: The Movie. It’s been variously described as thrilling, flawed and predictable.

For Apple, it’s also proven to be the ultimate test drive. In just 10 days, F1: The Movie has generated close to $US300 million ($455 million) in sales, making it the most successful film in the iPhone maker’s history.
