After pushing out his original nominee to run NASA, President Trump has found a temporary leader to run it: Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy.

Trump said in a Truth Social post on Wednesday evening that he was appointing Duffy to serve as interim administrator at NASA. "He will be a fantastic leader of the ever more important Space Agency, even if only for a short period of time," Trump said.

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration has been in limbo since the president in May pulled support for Jared Isaacman, his first pick to serve as NASA's chief.

Isaacman, a billionaire entrepreneur who has traveled to low-Earth orbit twice on SpaceX vehicles, was poised to win confirmation from the Senate for the job before Trump abruptly reversed course.

Duffy said on X that he was honored to take on the role. He will continue serving in his role at the Transportation Department while he runs NASA.
