Banks in Hong Kong tapped HK$4.67 billion in short-term funds from the Hong Kong Monetary Authority via the discount window on Tuesday, the largest such borrowing since February, suggesting a sudden demand for liquidity, The Standard reported on Wednesday.
The move comes after the HKMA stepped in four times within a week to buy Hong Kong dollars totaling about HK$60 billion, the report said.
