The number of dwellings commenced in Australia rose almost 12% to 47,645 units between the December 2024 and March quarters, data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics showed Wednesday.
Within the private sector, new house commencements rose 6.3% to 27,923 dwellings, while other residential commencements rose nearly 22% to 18,161 dwellings.
The value of total building work done rose 0.5% to AU$38.9 billion.
Compared with the year-earlier period, dwelling commencements rose past 17% in the March quarter.
