EU Reportedly Preparing $84 Billion Tariff List Targeting Boeing, US Cars After Trump Tariff Threat

The European Union has circulated a 72 billion euros ($84.12 billion) list of US goods, including Boeing (BA) aircraft, automobiles, and bourbon, that could face retaliatory tariffs if ongoing trade talks with Washington fail, multiple outlets reported Tuesday, citing documents seen by the news agencies.

The proposal reportedly follows President Donald Trump's announcement of a 30% blanket tariff on EU imports starting Aug. 1 if a new deal isn't reached, a move EU trade chief Maros Sefcovic described as "effectively prohibitive" to transatlantic trade.

The draft list includes around 65 billion euros in industrial goods such as aircraft, machinery, and vehicles, along with 6 billion euros in agriculture and food products like fruits, vegetables, and alcoholic beverages, the news outlets reported.

The selection prioritized products with high relocation risks and available alternative suppliers. A prior 21 billion euros package approved in April remains suspended through Aug. 6 to allow further negotiations, the news outlets quoted the EU official as saying.

Boeing and the European Commission did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
