Joby Aviation Inc., a company focused on developing electric air taxis for commercial passenger service, has announced the expansion of its manufacturing site in Marina, California. This expansion will double the facility's aircraft production capacity, now spanning approximately 435,500 square feet, to support the scale-up of commercial operations. Additionally, Joby is ramping up its newly renovated facility in Dayton, Ohio, to manufacture and test aircraft components. The expansion is part of Joby's broader strategy to leverage advanced manufacturing techniques, including 3D printing and data analytics, and draw on top talent from its U.S.-based facilities. The company has also added a new aircraft to its fleet, showcasing the acceleration of production efforts. The expansion was supported by a $9.8 million grant from the California Governor's Office of Business and Economic Development, along with a program from the California State Treasurer's Office that helped reduce equipment costs by $10 million.
