Shangri-La Asia (HKG:69) will appoint Kuok Hui Kwong as chief executive officer, effective Aug. 1, according to a Wednesday filing with the Hong Kong bourse.

Kuok currently serves as chairman and executive director of the company.

The board said combining the roles of chairman and CEO under Kuok's leadership is expected to improve strategic cohesion and operational execution.
