Close readers of news from clubland may wonder why this column devotes so little attention to the smattering of private women’s clubs, which, yes, do exist, and are almost as elitist as the men’s.
The truth is that, gender stereotypes aside, in our experience the men are much better gossips – while the women think it all a bit passé to speak to the press. A pity, truth be told. But sometimes, morsels do leak out.
