GE Vernova plans to create about 700 new jobs over the next two years as part of an expansion of its operations in Pennsylvania.

The energy company said Tuesday that 250 of the new roles will come to its leading grid solutions factory in Charleroi, Penn., and be centered on manufacturing more high-voltage switchgear products that are critical to the nation's electrical grids.

The company, formed last year from the breakup of General Electric, is looking to invest up to $100 million in the Keystone State and add jobs across multiple factories that will help modernize the grid for economic growth.

"These new jobs and investment reflect our ongoing commitment to not only building critical grid infrastructure with American workers, but reindustrializing Pennsylvania's proud manufacturing legacy," Chief Executive Scott Strazik said.

The moves should also strengthen GE Vernova's domestic supply chain and improve national security, the CEO said.

The company also announced that it has secured a full order to provide seven high-efficiency natural gas turbines to the Homer City Energy Campus, which is expected to be completed in 2027.
