Proteomics International Laboratories' (ASX:PIQ) subsidiary, OxiDx, published results demonstrating that its OxiDx oxidative stress test can identify muscle damage and assess recovery in Australian thoroughbred racehorses, according to a Monday filing with the Australian bourse.

The study, published in the peer-reviewed journal Veterinary Science and Medicine, found that oxidative stress levels in 34 horses peaked 48 hours post-race and remained elevated for up to five days, with some showing prolonged recovery times, the filing said.

The test, which uses dried blood spots to detect protein biomarkers, is set to launch in Australia in the second half of the year, according to the filing.

Shares rose 2% in midday trade Monday.
