Sun Communities (SUI) said Wednesday it has appointed Charles Young as chief executive officer, effective Oct. 1.

The company said Young, who will also join its board, will succeed Gary Shiffman, who will retire after 40 years at the helm.

Shiffman will transition to the role of non-executive chairman of the board starting Oct. 1.

Young previously served as president of Invitation Homes, the company said.
