Ondas Holdings Inc., a leader in private industrial wireless networks and commercial drone solutions, has completed the first implementation of its 802.16 technology for a Class I railroad in Chicago. This project, in collaboration with Siemens Mobility, marks a significant step in upgrading the rail operator's legacy systems to a state-of-the-art 900 MHz wireless communication network using IEEE 802.16 technology. The deployment is part of a broader initiative to transition railroads to the new 900 MHz "A Block" spectrum, enhancing network scalability and security. This upgrade also includes improvements to the railroad's core base station infrastructure, setting the stage for future expansions in wayside infrastructure.
