NatWest Is in a Sweet Spot -- Market Talk

0810 GMT - NatWest's quarterly print shows that the bank is in a sweet spot after the government returned it to private ownership, Interactive Investor says in a market comment. The U.K. lender is the investor favorite in the sector and its results justify that optimism, analyst Richard Hunter writes. "It remains to be seen whether this new-found freedom will enable a more aggressive acquisition policy," he adds. The bank's significant cash generation brings up the dilemma of whether to boost shareholder returns, invest heavily in the business or pursue an acquisition, he says. The group also raised its returns and income guidance for the year and announced a 750 million pound share buyback, which has been well-received by investors. Shares rise 2% to 513 pence.
