The probe into Kellanova's (K) pending acquisition by Mars has been paused by the European Commission as it awaits data requested from the companies, Reuters reported Tuesday, citing an email from the commission.

The timetable in merger investigations can be suspended if the parties fail to provide information within a prescribed deadline, Reuters cited the commission as saying in the email.

The investigation will resume after the companies have submitted the necessary information, according to the report.

Kellanova and Mars did not immediately reply to requests for comment from MT Newswires.
