TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati reaffirmed her commitment to allocating 5 percent of the State Budget (APBN) to the health sector.
“Since 2016, #UangKita has consistently allocated more than 5 percent of the budget to ensure that the public receives quality healthcare services and access,” Sri Mulyani wrote on her Instagram account @smindrawati, as quoted in Jakarta on Saturday, August 2, 2025.
For 2025, the government has set aside Rp218.5 trillion for the health sector. The funds support a range of programs, including the strengthening of basic healthcare through the Integrated Primary Health Service (ILP), which targets communities in remote and underserved areas.
Sri Mulyani also noted that the health budget is aimed at expanding equal access to basic health services. These include medical check-ups, immunizations, and nutritional education, particularly for residents who live far from permanent health facilities.
“These important programs will continue and be improved in 2026, because access to healthcare is a right for every citizen,” she added.
In the first half of 2025, the government had spent Rp 78.6 trillion on health programs, which is 36 percent of the total budget allocation. Out of this amount, Rp 52.1 trillion was spent through central government expenditure (BPP), while Rp26.5 trillion was distributed through inter-regional transfers (TKD).
Part of the budget has been used to revitalize hospitals, with Rp1.9 trillion allocated for upgrading primary hospitals to Class C Hospitals. The focus is on enhancing services for heart disease, stroke, and urology.
The government has also allocated Rp23.2 trillion to support National Health Insurance (JKN) premium subsidies, Rp1.1 trillion for vaccines and immunization programs, and Rp140.1 billion for the Free Health Check-up Program (PKG).
