New Zealand Shares Fall Tracking Wall Street Losses, Air New Zealand Group Capacity Falls

New Zealand shares fell on Friday as most Asian indexes fell, tracking losses from Wall Street.

The S&P/NZX 50 Index fell 0.33% or 42.47 points to close at 12,844.63.

The Dow Jones settled 0.5% lower on Thursday, and the S&P 500 ended down 0.1%. The Nasdaq Composite managed to close 0.4% higher

The US on Thursday promised to amend a presidential executive order to remove overlapping tariffs on Japanese goods, Tokyo's trade negotiator said, as reported by Reuters.

In domestic news, New Zealand spending using ANZ-issued cards rose 0.5% in July on a seasonally adjusted, three-month average terms, and was up 2.6% compared with the same period last year, according to ANZ data released Friday.

In corporate news, Air New Zealand's (ASX:AIZ, NZE:AIR) group capacity fell 0.7% year on year in June, according to a Friday filing with the Australian and New Zealand bourses.

Infratil (ASX:IFT, NZE:IFT) and the New Zealand Superannuation Fund (NZ Super) agreed to sell their 100% stake in RetireAustralia to Invesco Real Estate for AU$845 million, according to a Friday filing with the New Zealand and Australian bourses.
