Montauk Renewables Inc. has announced a new joint venture with Emvolon, an MIT spin-off company, to convert biogas into high-value, low-carbon fuel. This collaboration aims to develop multiple biogas-to-green methanol projects, with an ambitious target of producing up to 50,000 metric tons of green methanol annually by 2030. The initiative will begin with the Atascocita Humble Renewable Energy facility in Humble, Texas, which will utilize Emvolon's patented technology to transform flared gas streams into low-carbon methanol. This partnership marks a significant expansion of biogas utilization, offering innovative pathways to decarbonize industrial sectors and enhance the economic viability of biogas projects.
