South Korea plans to conclude the operations of the Kori-4 nuclear reactor at 2 pm on Wednesday, since it has ended its lifespan, Yonhap News reported the same day, citing Korea Electric Power (KRX:015760) subsidiary Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP).

The 950,000-kilowatt reactor, which began operations in 1985, is being decommissioned as scheduled, the report said.

The Nuclear Safety and Security Commission is currently reviewing a KHNP application to alter operations of the Kori-4 reactor for its continued use, it said.

Shares of Korea Electric Power jumped more than 7% at market close.
