MEDIROM Healthcare Technologies Inc. has announced a new partnership with Hakuhodo Inc. and Tools for Humanity, led by Sam Altman, the founder of OpenAI. This collaboration aims to promote "World ID" in Japan, a global personal authentication technology designed to verify human authenticity in the age of AI. In this effort, MEDIROM plans to install the "Orb" World ID authentication device in approximately 100 of its "Re.Ra.Ku" relaxation salons by the end of 2025. Tools for Humanity will provide the World technology and oversee platform operations, while Hakuhodo will support the project's domestic expansion. The initiative seeks to issue 500,000 new World IDs annually, facilitating the use of digital proof of human identity across various services.
