We wouldn't blame Pinnacle West Capital Corporation (NYSE:PNW) shareholders if they were a little worried about the fact that Jacob Tetlow, a company insider, recently netted about US$600k selling shares at an average price of US$92.37. That diminished their holding by a very significant 72%, which arguably implies a strong desire to reallocate capital.

Notably, that recent sale by insider Jacob Tetlow was not the only time they sold Pinnacle West Capital shares this year. They previously made an even bigger sale of -US$860k worth of shares at a price of US$90.80 per share. That means that even when the share price was below the current price of US$93.06, an insider wanted to cash in some shares. When an insider sells below the current price, it suggests that they considered that lower price to be fair. That makes us wonder what they think of the (higher) recent valuation. While insider selling is not a positive sign, we can't be sure if it does mean insiders think the shares are fully valued, so it's only a weak sign. It is worth noting that this sale was 79% of Jacob Tetlow's holding.
